Quality is one of the essential conditions for enterprise competitiveness. In the Toyota Production System (TPS), poor quality is the ultimate waste, and zero defects are a crucial cornerstone of just-in-time production and zero inventory. From the perspective of value stream analysis in lean manufacturing, poor quality is one of the main reasons for dwell time and inventory at various stages of the value stream.

Many Taiwanese companies have implemented quality assurance systems using ISO 9001, TS, or similar standards, but these systems often lack substance, leading to the joke that "system certification doesn't guarantee quality." Worst of all, companies falsify data, certification companies issue fake certificates, and the resulting proliferation of fraudulent practices undermines a culture of integrity and pragmatism within companies.

In addition to preventative measures at the source of new product development, a quality assurance system also requires corresponding management in the procurement, mass production, and after-sales service stages to maintain stable operations. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with their smaller size and limited human resources, cannot rely entirely on a large-scale TQM (Total Quality Management) system to build a quality assurance system; they can only focus on key areas. However, regardless of size, basic concepts, source prevention, self-management, and improvement activities are essential.

 

Establish and effectively promote a quality assurance system that aligns with the characteristics of the enterprise and its products, striving to avoid designing, producing, or releasing defective products, thereby ensuring competitive quality.
